Uganda's Forest
One
of the most alluring features of Uganda is its forests.
In fact Uganda is home to the most easterly extension
of the massive rainforest which blankets much of West
and Central Africa.
More than 500 forest reserves support a wide variety
of mammal and bird species, which are not present anywhere
else in East or Southern Africa.
Three of Uganda's national parks are montane parks
and support montane and bamboo forests up to around
3,000 metres above sea level.
One of the National Parks in the west
of the country, the Kibale Forest, features a wild coffee
trail where visitors can follow a footpath through the
primary forest to see these rare and special indigenous
coffee trees, not found anywhere else in the world.
